Kathy Hurt has dedicated over 40 years to public service, media, and behavioral health advocacy. She began her career in the Broward County Legal System, where she helped develop juvenile programs while earning credentials as a Certified Addictions Professional and Case Evaluator. Her career path then led her to broadcasting, working with NBC in the Chicago area and in local radio before retiring from a successful tenure at the Sun Sentinel/Tribune Corporation. The loss of her sister to addiction became the driving force behind her lifelong mission to champion prevention, education, and recovery. As Director of Development Treasure Coast at Hanley Center, she launched the Treasure Coast Drug Summit, a regional initiative that continues to shape policy and strengthen community response. Today, as Vice President of Community Impact at Scandia Wellness Services, Kathy leads government relations, partnerships, and education Bringing hope and healing to individuals, families and members of Public Sector affected by untreated behavioral health issues.
